EF Education First, London, UK

9-12 month maternity cover.

EF Education First’s EdTech group is looking for a Lead Researcher to join our Product Research Team in London.

As part of the newly created Product Research Team you will not only help to form a broad view of our products’ customers, behaviours and needs, but you will also be leading the formation of a unified and consistent approach to how we conduct customer and user research.

Our ideal candidate

  • Has practical experience of a wide variety of research methods applied across the product development process
  • Has a clear strength in a particular research specialty, i.e. design strategy, generative and exploratory research, surveys, statistical modelling, analytics/visualisation
  • Is able to confidently collaborate with other researchers, designers, product owners, programme managers and engineers
  • Has a clear, compelling presentation and communication style
  • Starts with “Why?”
  • Has a solid user-centred approach to problem-solving
  • Thinks about the entire product life-cycle, not just their piece of the puzzle
  • Is articulate, communicative and open - happy communicating ideas and furthering decisions across a cross-functional product team
  • Is not afraid of failure
  • Is not afraid to say “no”, when necessary
  • Is a life-long learner

Role requirements

  • Lead the Product Research team in the EdTech Europe Studio, guiding, supporting and growing other researchers in the team
  • Create, adapt, and unify the design research process and practice to support the growing needs of the EF EdTech Group – both locally and globally
  • Identify research needs in partnership with product teams, stakeholders and functional specialists
  • Initiate broad scale research to support and impact multiple product teams
  • Design, plan, and resource user research projects
  • Communicate research insights in clear, creative, and effective ways to internal teams, stakeholders and designers
  • Advocate and guide strategy for design and product direction
  • You have 6+ years practical work experience in a design (or design-adjacent) role, and ideally a bachelor's degree

What we offer

  • The opportunity to have a positive impact on people’s lives
  • Work with an amazing team of designers, engineers, academics and product people
  • A competitive salary
  • A beautiful, multi-national office based in Chelsea, London
  • Onsite gym, with free fitness and wellness classes
  • Regular social activities
