Social Media Manager
EF Education First Pro Cycling Team
The Social Media Manager will sit at the hub of EF Education First Pro Cycling Team marketing efforts. This role will be primarily responsible for setting the tone, planning, curating, producing and publishing content on our social media channels including but not limited to: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The focus of this role will be driving brand awareness, engagement and brand affinity for our cycling team and EF brand.
As part of the EF Pro Cycling team, this person will work closely with EF Pro Cycling staff, riders, the EF Brand team and other divisions of EF across the world. Partnering with various team members will allow social to be the daily drum beat and conduit of our global cultural adventure that takes the form of a bike team. This role’s singular focus will be to tell the EF brand story via our cycling team in a visual and written language that resonates with the broadest possible audience.
The ideal candidate will be both a social media maven (you should have experience managing day-to-day activities across multiple social media channels for a brand, company or organization under your belt) and a consummate, innovative content producer with excellent communication and organizational skills. You need to be highly comfortable creating, promoting and distributing content digitally, and have the ability to maintain exceptional content standards. You’ll develop and bring to life engaging, on-brand digital content ideas and campaigns that help tell the EF story, grow our audiences, raise EF’s team, brand and partner profiles, and that are in line with bleeding edge methods on how people consume content on social platforms. This candidate should also be comfortable with how social media integrates into a holistic upper funnel marketing mix.
This position will be based in EF’s Boston office and report to the Vice President of Marketing.
Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
-Editorial and social media execution for EF Pro Cycling—planning, curating, producing, publishing and promoting content that’s in line with the EF team and brand (including writing or adapting copy, producing and/or coordinating the production of visual assets—imagery, video, gifs, graphical assets, etc., and more)
-Building a social calendar of proactive content
-Defining and executing reactive content strategies for events, race wins, etc.
-Pitching content ideas and executing on assigned stories
-Supporting the engagement with our audiences on social media in positive ways that help connect them to the EF brand
-Briefing, coordinating with and reviewing and editing content from both freelance and in-house contributors (designers, copywriters, video producers, content and social media coordinators/managers, etc.)
-Developing, executing on and monitoring social media campaigns and competitions
-2-4 years’ experience in social media, digital content, brand marketing or related field
-Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills (and the ability to adapt to a brand tone of voice)
-Proven experience creating social media content with mass appeal
-Proven experience growing digital media audiences
-Proven social media knowledge and skills across a wide range of social media channels
-Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to consumers and internally across all levels of the organization
-Familiarity with content management systems (i.e. Wordpress) and social media management tools (i.e. Hootsuite)
-Excellent organizational and time management skills—proven ability to work under strict deadlines
-Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, English, Communications or a related field of study

-Be in the know on social media content specifications, trends and how people are consuming content across social channels; this person needs to have a real love for social media and the channels to show for it (either personal channels or other social media brand channels you’ve produced content for)
-Have an enthusiastic attitude and willingness to jump in and “get your hands dirty”
-Understand what types of content get traction on social media
-Be thorough with research and fact checking
-Have a sense of humor
Bonus points if you:
Have experience shooting and/or editing video and photo for social media
Have animation and/or graphic design skills
Have experience measuring and reporting on content and social media activities
Have an understanding of SEO and/or paid social media practices
Have participated in educational travel, language learning and/or cultural exchange programs
Please include 3-5 samples of content you’ve created (at least 2 must be social media campaigns; others can be digital writing, photography, design, video, animation, etc.) as well as links to 2-3 social media channels you’ve managed. Candidates who do not submit samples will not be considered for this role.
Experience as a cyclist is not a requirement for this role.
