Job Title: Operational Support Assistant (Porter)

Location: Ashridge, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, HP4 1NS

Reports To: Venue Services Team Leader

Full time: 40 hours (includes overnight shifts)

Salary: £18,500 PA

The Opportunity

Our Operational Support Team play a big part in Ashridge House’s ability to deliver an excellent level of customer service to our executive education clients and our conference and events visitors. The team are extremely customer focused and ensure that the House remains neat, tidy, safe and beautiful. The Team Member’s main responsibilities are preparing the facilities for guests’ arrival and attending to various changes and requests throughout their visit. The role will suit someone who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service in a professional and polite manner. If you enjoy sitting at a desk all day, this role is not for you. It is a very active role, and a chance to work with all departments at Ashridge. This team is brilliant at adapting to last minute changes. We are looking for a person who can think quickly on their feet, and who follows the mantra “Nothing is Impossible.”


The main duties include:

  • Setting up tables, chairs, buffets, audio-visual equipment, materials and cleaning
  • Equipping teaching and function rooms with everything necessary for courses and events
  • Moving deliveries, luggage and furniture around the multi-building site
  • Being the first line of support for Tech setup and troubleshooting in the teaching rooms
  • Providing security cover, keeping our people and buildings safe
  • Being part of a team of first responder for emergencies
  • Working closely with other teams within Ashridge House to deliver excellent service
