Strength Coordinator
EF Academy, Pasadena
EF Academy is looking for a Strength Coordinator to create and oversee its strength and conditioning program for its athletics program. Additionally, this position would supervise student recreational use of the 2100 SF fitness center. As a member of California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) EF Academy competes in the competitive Prep League, which includes Flintridge Prep, Pasadena Poly, Chadwick, Mayfield, Providence, Rio Hondo Prep, and Westridge. This is a new position and reports to the Athletics Director.

Minimum Requirements:
- Experience playing and/or coaching competitive athletics at or above the high school level.
- Certified Personal Trainer or national accredited fitness certification.
- Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field preferred.
- Acquire, possess, and maintain current coaching certifications and trainings as required by CIF and the State of California, including CPR/AED certification.
- 3+ years working with high school aged students preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, supervision, and overall organization of the fitness center.
- Embrace the responsibility for the care of students, athletes, and athletic teams, in support of in loco parentis.
- Create, prepare, instruct, oversee, and review the effectiveness of the strength program for assigned athletic teams at scheduled team lifts.
- Oversee the safety of students and the fitness center during assigned recreational use times.
- Establish, teach, and maintain expectations of behavior for athletes, athletic teams, and recreational users regarding how to safely and properly utilize the fitness center.
- Demonstrate and promote sportsmanship towards opponents, teammates, officials, and spectators.
- Serve as a mentor to students and athletes, supporting and encouraging their holistic growth.
- Frequently and proactively collaborate with the Athletic Director regarding topics, needs, or concerns pertaining to the fitness center, athletic teams, or recreational use times.
- Ensure proper care, use, and safety of athletic equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Implement, follow, and monitor compliance with all CIF-SS, Athletic Department, and EF Academy rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with coaches regarding assigned athletic teams.
- Ability to drive students to off-campus games or events as assigned.
- Attend meetings and award ceremonies as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assess and instruct athletes, individually and in groups, regarding the basic and advanced nuances of strength training.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athletic injury, including chaperoning an athlete to a medical facility as required.
- Frequently collaborate with the Health Center regarding health-related situations of students or athletes that may impact their availability.
Potential Working Hours:
- Monday through Friday – 3:45-7:00pm
- Monday through Friday (priority Tuesday and Thursday) – 6:30-8:00am
- Saturday and Sunday – 2:00-6:00pm
The priority schedule would be the weekday afternoons; the ideal candidate would be able to oversee weekday hours in the morning as well. Weekday hours are unlikely to change significantly from the times provided. Weekend hours are potentially available for interested candidates and provide an approximate range. The schedule is subject to change.
Anticipated Salary Range: $20-30 per hour based on experience and qualifications
