Cultural Care Au Pair is seeking a creative and customer-focused UX Designer to shape the digital experiences that connect au pairs and host families around the world. Reporting into Product Management, this role will be instrumental in designing intuitive, engaging interfaces across our web and mobile platforms. You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where ambiguity is the norm and customer-centricity is our north star.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic problem-solver who combines research insights, data analytics, and design craft to create experiences that delight users while driving business outcomes. You should be passionate about understanding our customers deeply and comfortable working through uncertainty to find elegant digital solutions to complex problems.

What you'll do:

Customer-Centered Design:

  • Lead end-to-end design projects from discovery through delivery, grounding every decision in user research and customer insights.
  • Conduct user research, including interviews, usability testing, and surveys, to uncover pain points and opportunities across the customer journey.
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and service blueprints that bring our customers to life for cross-functional partners.

Design and Prototyping:

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma for web and our two customer-facing mobile applications.
  • Design intuitive, accessible interfaces that work seamlessly across desktop and mobile experiences.
  • Iterate rapidly based on user feedback, analytics, and stakeholder input.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Leverage analytics platforms and customer feedback to identify usability issues and validate design hypotheses.
  • Define and track success metrics for design initiatives, using data to inform continuous improvement.
  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative insights to guide design strategy and prioritization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner closely with Product Management and our global Engineering team to ensure designs are feasible, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
  • Facilitate design critiques and workshops with stakeholders to build alignment and gather diverse perspectives.
  • Prepare clear, detailed design specifications and assets for engineering handoffs, ensuring seamless implementation.
  • Work within Agile workflows, participating in sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.

Navigate Ambiguity:

  • Thrive in situations where problems are undefined, and solutions are unclear, proactively defining scope and identifying the right questions to ask.
  • Balance competing priorities and constraints while maintaining focus on customer needs.

Who you are:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in B2C digital products or American consumer-facing applications
  • Demonstrable UX&UI design skills with a strong portfolio showcasing both mobile & web designs and platforms
  • Experience with Figma for designs, prototyping, and design system management
  • Experience with JIRA, Asana or similar project management tools in Agile environments
  • Demonstrated experience conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesizing findings into actionable insights
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar) to inform design decisions
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineering teams, including creating detailed specifications and managing design handoffs
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale to diverse stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, rapidly evolving environments where you'll need to define problems as much as solve them
  • Customer-first mindset with empathy for user needs and business constraints

Bonus points for:

  • Experience designing matching, marketplace, or two-sided platform products
  • Experience designing internal mobile applications in Salesforce
  • Background in designing for international or multicultural audiences
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation methodologies

About EF Education First

Some companies are in the Business of Technology.

Others are in the Business of Finance…Sports…Or Soft Drinks.

At EF, we're in a different kind of business.

One that's a little less tangible, and a lot more important.

We're in the Business of Understanding.

For over 60 years we've been the leader in international educational programs and culturally rich travel experiences with the power to change how people think, feel and act. The programs we deliver open the world to students and travelers in ways that challenge biases, overcome barriers, and pave the way for a more understanding world. You'll find us working across more than 50 countries, with offices in some of the world's greatest cities - each one filled with smart, driven people who push each other to be better every day. And yes, we have technology, we have finance, we even have sports with our own professional cycling team. But it's what we do with it – building greater understanding, breaking down barriers, and creating a better world…that makes all the difference.
