Job Description: 12 Month TESOL Teacher / Coordinator Position
EF Academy New York Boarding School – Thornwood, NY

Position Overview
EF Academy New York is seeking a dynamic and skilled educator to join our team as a 12-month employee. This hybrid role combines approximately eight months of full-time teaching with four months of administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching high school Multi-Lingual Learners (MLLs), a background in international education, and expertise in curriculum development and program management. This position requires a collaborative, adaptable professional who can contribute to both the academic and operational success of our diverse and vibrant boarding school community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching Portion (8 Months)

• Teach English language acquisition and support courses to high school Multi-Lingual Learners at varying proficiency levels.
• Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered English language curriculum tailored to support students’ academic and linguistic growth.
• Design and implement supports for MLLs in core content areas such as math, science, history, and the arts, in collaboration with subject-area teachers.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing individualized feedback and support to address learning gaps and challenges.
• Foster an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that values and celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity.

Administrative Portion (4 Months)

• Develop, revise, and edit curriculum materials based on teacher and student feedback, ensuring alignment with educational goals and standards.
• Create and present comprehensive year-end reports on program effectiveness, student progress, and recommendations for improvement.
• Act as a liaison between departments and stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of program structures and initiatives to enhance MLL support and overall student success.
• Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the school’s operations and strategic goals.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
• Experience teaching high school Multi-Lingual Learners.
• Proficiency in developing English language curriculum and instructional materials.
• Ability to create and implement cross-disciplinary supports for MLLs in various academic subjects.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in TESOL, Education, or a related field.
• Experience in an international or multicultural educational setting.
• Familiarity with boarding school life and a willingness to engage in the residential community.
• Prior experience in curriculum evaluation, report writing, and program development.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and disciplines.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive salary $65,000-$75,000 based on experience and qualifications.
