We’re looking for an Assistant Director of Studies to work closely with the Director of Studies, help lead our academic team, and shape the student experience at our school.
Role Overview
The Assistant Director supports the Director of Studies in running the academic department, ensuring great teaching, smooth operations, and an environment where both students and teachers thrive. You’ll balance both teaching and leadership, helping drive academic quality and innovation across the school. We are looking for someone who is excited by long-term employment and growth opportunities.
What you’ll do
Teaching
- Teach your own classes and provide cover when needed
- Support strong learning outcomes through quality instruction, placement, and timely feedback
Teacher Support & Development
- Help recruit, onboard, observe, and coach teachers
- Lead or contribute to trainings, observations, and teacher meetings
- Foster a positive, collaborative teaching culture
Academic Operations
- Manage teacher workloads, timetables, and class allocations
- Maintain and develop academic tools and resources
- Contribute to department planning and ongoing improvement
Student Experience
- Ensure accurate placement by level, age, and nationality mix
- Support student queries with professionalism and care
- Collaborate across departments to connect academics with activities and campus life
What you’ll bring
Qualifications
- CELTA or equivalent
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
- Working toward TEFLQ preferred
Skills & Experience
- Experience managing people or academic programs is an advantage
- Confident teacher with experience supporting teens and young adults
- Strong communicator and relationship‑builder
- Organised, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Comfortable with tech and interested in new teaching methods
- Positive, solutions‑focused, and committed to student success
- Strong sense of ownership and follow‑through
